Grand Fontaine attend to the t21 Research Society
Laboratoires Grand Fontaine attended to the first International Conference of the trisomy 21 Research Society with the intent to keep up to date with current research and news regarding Down syndrome, the 4-7 of June of 2015 in Paris.
Trisomy 21 Research Society (T21RS) is the first scientific non-profit organization of researchers which is focused on DS. Founded to promote the basic and translational investigation about DS, and apply this new scientific knowledge to develop better treatments and cures. A large number of investigations about the capability of EGCG to regulate the overexpression of the DYRK1A gene were presented.
The presentation of Dr. Rafael de La Torre: “Tools for assessment of therapeutic approaches. Clinical trials for DS”, stood out in cognitive performance in DS. He presented the utility of neuroimaging, neurophysiology and biomarkers (Biochemical, genetic) tools in the brain activity measure in Down syndrome, used in the TESTAD study.
In parallel, Dr. Mara Dierssen presented: “Remodeling the neuronal forest in intellectual disability”. This study is focused on the impact that neuropsycological functions such as memory and orientation in DS mice model (Ts65Dn y TgDyrk1A) may cause to the neuronal structure. This last research was financed by the Fondation Jerôme Lejeune and the Spanish Ministry of Science and innovation.
